As the world becomes more complex and interconnected, so do our global challenges. Because threats of climate change, resource scarcity, and supply chain shifts loom large, it’s critical that companies step up to mitigate these challenges. TransPak is committed to designing sustainable packaging and logistics solutions as a part of our green supply chain. Sustainability is fundamental to the way we do business—it’s built into our corporate culture, decision making, supply chain management and operations. This allows us to deliver innovative, quality products and exceptional service our customers expect while protecting the environment and being responsible corporate citizens.
TransPak is a global steward by operating a supply chain that grows more and more sustainable each day. We are committed to sustainability by reducing the impact of our products and services on the environment. We do this by implementing new methods and materials and promoting the use of recycled packaging materials that create solutions that are kind to the environment for our customers.
TransPak’s ambitious sustainability goals not only address our customers’ obligations to be socially responsible, they also position us as a reliable partner in sourcing eco-friendly packaging materials and operating strategic, sustainable supply chains.
At TransPak, we:
Source lumber and
plywood directly.
Unlike many other companies, we source lumber and plywood directly, purchasing from manufacturers that utilize sustainable forests and timber providers. Select sites also carry sustainability certifications such as Forestry Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.
Use environmentally friendly
packaging materials.
We have access to and experience with a variety of cutting edge environmentally friendly materials, including compostable foam made from upcycled food waste, natural inks and adhesives, 100% recycled corrugated boxes, void fill alternatives like molded pulp cushion cubes, thermoformed reusable plastic made from recycled milk cartons, and more.
Prioritize diverting waste from landfills.
We’ve been measuring and evaluating our diversion rate since 2014 and strive to minimize waste going to landfills. We achieve this through our laser-focus on creating circular economies, like reusing and refurbishing packaging materials through knockdown kits, reusable crates, transit cases, and more.
Reduce our carbon footprint.
Our goal is to achieve net zero emissions across our operations by 2050 by delivering sustainable packaging and smarter logistics to reduce environmental impact and supporting customer decarbonization through data tools and emissions transparency. We are proud to offer a proprietary carbon calculator tool for our customers to help them track and reduce the associated carbon footprint of their orders.
TransPak operates in a manner that preserves the environment and protects the health and safety of workers, customers and neighboring communities. TransPak sources lumber and plywood directly from mills that source from sustainable forests and timber providers. In addition, select sites carry sustainability certifications such as Forest Stewardship™ (FSC)®, Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). We also partner with One Tree Planted to help offset lumber consumed in our production processes, with our monthly donations having planted 160,000+ trees since 2020.
TransPak follows an aggressive recycling program for our waste stream. Scrap wood can be ground and recycled into fireplace logs or press board, while scrap foam can be compressed into bales and converted into carpet padding and/or returned to the foam manufacturers for use in recycled products.
When shipping empty crates between facilities or directly to clients, we offer knockdown kits to maximize the number of crates delivered per shipment and the space required to store your materials. Our knockdown kits are expertly packed for easy assembly and offer a significant reduction in CO2 emissions during transport compared to shipping fully or partially assembled crates.
Crate Refurbishment Program
TransPak’s reusable crate program refurbishes and reuses crates to reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize our customers’ carbon footprint. Whether you have a closed loop—where the crate is shipped back to you—or the crate is reused in a different way, TransPak can design and manage the lifecycle and reverse logistics of your crate.
Whether you need reusable packing materials or reusable crates or transit cases for large, expensive or fragile products, TransPak will work with you to determine the most cost-effective materials and system for your needs. To tailor your program, we consider every process and step—from logistics to geography, to warehousing and cost.
Eco-Friendly Shipping
TransPak is committed to minimizing the impact on the environment caused by our shipping services. Our Net Zero Roadmap includes a focus on adopting logistics practices that promote a sustainable supply chain, such as transitioning forklifts, vans, and trucks to electric, and enhancing eco-friendly shipping options by practicing lighter air freight and max vehicle fill.
Optimized Engineering
TransPak’s expert global engineering team can help you achieve reliable protection for your product’s global journey while using less, lighter, or more sustainable materials. We start every project with a materials-neutral approach—meaning we select the right materials for your specifications and priorities. During our packaging design phase, we’ll provide a range of material options to find the optimal balance of product protection, cost savings, and sustainability.
Green Packaging Materials
TransPak has access to and experience with a variety of cutting edge environmentally friendly materials, including natural inks and adhesives, 100% recycled corrugated boxes, void fill alternatives like molded pulp cushion cubes, thermoformed reusable plastic made from recycled milk cartons, and more. We are especially proud to partner with Cruz Foam, a pioneer in compostable foam made from upcycled food waste. Our custom, flexible engineering approach allows us to easily incorporate these innovative sustainable materials into the perfect pack for every customer.
Transit Cases
TransPak transit cases are 100% custom-made to ensure your precision products and equipment are cushioned and secure for storage and shipping—again and again. Custom interiors and shock absorption systems provide maximum cushioning and protection, while durable exteriors are efficiently designed for easy moving, storage and identification. Through our transit case offerings, TransPak is able to protect sensitive equipment for high-tech, military, government, aerospace, and industrial applications more sustainably.
At TransPak, we recognize that tracking carbon emissions is a critical step towards ensuring a more sustainable and climate-resilient future. Having information about the scale of our carbon footprint is essential to making informed decisions about reducing emissions and transitioning to more environmentally friendly practices.
With TransPak’s carbon calculator tool, customers are able to quantify and minimize their environmental impact. Integrated with TransPak’s CrateMaker, our carbon calculator tool adds value by offering precise insights into a BOM’s environmental impact – enabling customers to realize lighter solutions and avoid tons of CO2 emissions, make informed decisions, and align with sustainable practices and ESG goals.
TransPak prioritizes sustainability and conservation efforts to minimize and offset our business impacts. We are committed to contributing to the planet’s well-being for a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
At TransPak, we take our environmental leadership to the next level by partnering with One Tree Planted. To offset the lumber consumed in our crating business, we support critical reforestation and conservation efforts all over the world.
Our partnership with One Tree Planted facilitated the planting of 160,000+ trees since 2020 in regions where we source and ship. Our contributions restore forest cover, improve climate change resilience and mitigation, improve food security, and provide jobs and minimize poverty in local communities.
Born a crating business, TransPak understands the immense importance of trees. Forests play a vital role in fighting climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide. Just one mature tree can capture around 22 pounds of CO₂ each year. At TransPak, we view wood not just as a material but as a renewable resource that, when responsibly managed, can support both business and the environment.
